We’re excited to announce that three of our advisers Amanda Ragkousis, Clint McNally, and Kathy Havers, have been honoured with a spot on the shortlist for the FSPower50 2024! This recognition is a nod to their dedication to championing the value of financial advice whilst delivering exceptional service to clients and the community. We sat down for a quick word with each adviser and got a glimpse into their passion for financial advice and the power it has to help clients live the life they choose.
Amanda in her own words
I am deeply passionate about meeting and connecting with new clients. For me, it’s incredibly rewarding to work alongside them to uncover their unique priorities, develop tailored advice, and create a clear path to help them achieve their financial goals. I find great satisfaction in guiding clients to manage, safeguard, and transfer their wealth over time.
Looking ahead, I feel very optimistic about the future of financial planning. The need for advice is present at every stage of life, and with the integration of AI, there is a tremendous opportunity to refine our advice and service offerings. AI has the potential to boost efficiency and expand our reach, allowing us to help even more people achieve their financial goals.
One of the most memorable experiences in my career was volunteering my financial advisory services pro bono for the Cancer Council. I had the privilege of helping a terminally ill client evaluate their finances and, by understanding their priorities, especially ensuring their children’s future. I assisted them in accessing funds through their personal insurances within their superannuation. This not only provided them with the financial means to secure their children’s future but also allowed them to spend their remaining days focused on what mattered most, spending quality time with their children, free from the added stress of financial concerns.
Clint in His Own Words…
I love the opportunity to sit alongside a client, help build a team of trusted professionals around them, and support them in achieving their lifestyle goals, whatever they may be.
Over the past 25 years, I’ve had the opportunity to help many people, and the experiences that have left me most content and fulfilled are those moments when clients face significant life decisions and aren’t sure which way to go. By sitting down with them, talking through their options, and helping them gain clarity, I see the weight lift off their shoulders, which is a truly rewarding aspect of my work.
I’m particularly excited about the future of our industry as it presents the chance to help, support, and educate the next generation of families. Client-centred technology that enables low-cost advice and boosts financial literacy will be at the heart of this evolution. Firms that embrace this change and invest in taking on Professional Year (PY) candidates and provisional advisors will stand out as employers of choice.
Kathy in Her Own Words…
I always say it’s not about the money. It’s about the people and their dreams and aspirations. Money is just a tool to leverage and help us reach those goals. My passion lies in making a measurable difference in people’s lives, especially in moments of stress, crisis, and change. But beyond that, I strive to be seen as a lifelong partner and supporter as each client navigates their journey with all its twists and turns.
I’m excited about the future of our industry because the need for advice is continually growing. We are finally being recognised as a profession, and our services and advice are more widely understood and sought after. The career pathway for new entrants via the Professional Year (PY) program is proving to be a great success, and it gives me confidence that we will continue to see growth in adviser numbers moving forward.
One standout experience for me has been my role as a strategic adviser to the Board of a not-for-profit organisation, Kindred Spirits Enterprises Ltd, where I work alongside my colleague Melissa Goodman as the portfolio manager. We actively participate in full board meetings and take the time to deeply understand their purpose and mission, ensuring our advice and investment management genuinely impact the communities they serve. It’s a privilege and honour to contribute to that board, providing opportunities to those communities for improved education, wellbeing, and ultimately, a sense of personal purpose by having something meaningful to contribute.
